At last…

I’m sure you’ve all already seen this video, but it made me cry.  So I wanted to share.

Because Barack and Michelle are SO beautiful.  Because “At Last” is one of the most amazing love songs ever written.

Because this dance came towards the end of an amazing day, where the majority of our country was ushering in a new era with such joy and enthusiasm.

Because it’s been a LONG fucking 8 years and I am hopeful, excited and so, so proud that we have competent and inspired leadership back in the White House… AT LAST.

Let the good work begin.

The Inauguration in Legos!

Love this!

The LA Times Travel Blog has a story about the mini-inaugural scene at the Legoland themepark.

A 4-inch-tall Barack Obama rendered in Lego bricks will be sworn in as plastic president before more than 1,000 miniature-molded dignitaries at Legoland California’s inaugural pre-enactment.

Go to the blog for more pictures and details.

EDIT:  Just found some video coverage of this with great close-ups of the intricate details:

I love miniature things.  Playing with Legos completely f’n rocks.  I really can’t think of a better way to celebrate + commemorate this historic event.

Darcyisms: On Presidential Cabinet Selection

“Wow.  Obama is totally tapping that Democratic ass!”

Darcy responding to the news that Bill Richardson is going to get nominated for the Secretary of Commerce position.

(In addition to other great recent nominations. This is good news.  We are pleased with this news!)

Looking ahead to January!

January 19th-23rd is shaping up to be the hottest week of winter, because the three things I am most looking forward to, are happening within two days:

1.  Bush leaves office.

2.  Obama takes office.

3.  LOST Season Five Premiere on January 21st!

Huzzah Huzzah Huzzah!

You all already knew about the first two, so here is the dish on that last one:

Lost‘s regular time slot will be Wednesdays at 9 pm, though the new cycle will kick off with a three-hour event — a clip show followed by the first two episodes.

Can’t wait.

Overwhelmed

I don’t remember the last time I was this awestruck.   I am overwhelmed with how beautiful tonight was:

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled — Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of red states and blue states; we are, and always will be, the United States of America.

.

It’s the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.

It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.

There is much more good news to discuss tomorrow, and unfortunately some important counts that have not yet been decided (Prop 8), that I am still holding my breath on.   For now, I need to go sleep.

Tomorrow we will wake up and the celebration for this remarkable person continues.  Tomorrow, more opportunity for more great work begins.
