Ordered List: Wes Anderson Films

I really enjoy all of Wes Anderson’s work.  The Rushmore vs. Royal Tenenbaums: “Which is a better film?” debate has been bounced around numerous times in my social circle.  This list is not actually representative of the BEST*, as much as explicit favoritism, in order from most favorite to least:

1.  Rushmore

2.  The Darjeeling Limited

3.  The Royal Tenenbaums

4.  The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou

5.   Bottle Rocket**

*Rushmore.  CLEARLY.
**I think Bottle Rocket is actually a better film than Life Aquatic.  For some reason, I really just enjoy watching Life Aquatic more.  I speculate it’s Seu Jorge’s Bowie covers that edge it up on the favorite list.

While I agree wholeheartedly with you about Rushmore (my most favoritest movie evah), I think The Darjeeling Limited is a pretty bad movie. There, I said it. It’s boring, and bad.

Ha Ha. I totally loved it. LOVED it. I thought it was a great return to the kind of stark quirk of Rushmore instead of the more gaudy and lavish quirk of Royal and Life Aquatic.

I can see why people would find it boring, but I found it to be strangely melancholy and beautiful.

I’ve gotta go with Royal Tenebaums. One of the funniest movies scenes I’ve ever scene is the exchange between Hackman and Glover in which Hackman calls Glover “Coletrain.” My husband I STILL sometimes call each other Coletrain. It’s that funny.

Rushmore is by far my favorite WA movie, and after that I’d probably go with:

    Darjeeling Limited

Life Aquatic (“If you’re not with me, don’t cross that line. If yes, do.”)

    Royal Tenenbaums

Bottle Rocket, which I just saw for the first time a couple of months ago. It was. . .okay.
