Link Love: Travel Wisdom From Vagabondish

Travel writing – especially off-the-cuff, budget, adventurous, creative, DIY, expat or vagabond and in many ways “alternative” travel -  is one of my favorite-favorite things to read.  Lately, I’ve been exploring blogs that are all about this kind of travel/lifestyle.  Since I was already a loyal reader of Nora Dunn‘s writing, I followed her to Vagabondish, for which she is a contributor.

It’s wonderful.

They have a myriad of great general “advice” or travel tips posts, very specific first-person location posts (like a recent series on Rome) and fun stuff, like Photo of the Moment posts  – including this amazing pic of my beloved Newport Bridge (yay, Rhode Island!) and Signspotting, which provides endless entertainment for me, because I’m 12 and it includes gems like this:

So yes.  Go there if you like traveling, especially if you – like me – enjoy armchair traveling, planning excessive amounts of travel that you may or may not ever get to do and daydream (and sometimes take) spontaneous roadtrips or pretend to be a tourist and do your adventuring locally.

Regardless, it’s a fun blog to follow and sometimes travel lessons are also life lessons.  I give you:  Never, Ever Pack When You’re High.  Indeed, brilliant.

Where are you in New England, btw? I’m in RI myself.

    Hi Mike,

Thanks for commenting. I’m also in RI! I moved back here about six months ago after living in cities for the last 10 years and I’m completely in love with New England right now and rediscovering everything local. (There is a lot to do… especially with all of the region’s natural resources – I am learning to be an outdoorsy person again because I have time now and it’s so accessible!)
