Five things that almost ruin “Four Weddings and a Funeral”

(a movie that I find fairly delightful)

1.  The absurd hats.  Did I miss something?  Were enormous floppy hats really that in style at the end of the 80′s?

2.  Andie Macdowell.  (in general)

3.  The line “Is it still raining?  I hadn’t noticed.”  (and the way she says it.)

4.  The line “Is it still raining?  I hadn’t noticed.”  (and the way she says it.)

5.  The line “Is it still raining?  I hadn’t noticed.”  (and the way she says it.)

(I’ve found if I turn the movie off just before that line, it’s an overall, much more enjoyable experience.)

English (and Irish) people ALWAYS wear hats to weddings. ALWAYS. Also, the female guests are not allowed to take theirs off until the mother of the bride takes hers off.

Aha! I did not know that. So the large hats probably just were the style of hat at the time the movie was made, but the abundance of them is tradition!

OMG I COMPLETELY agree with #s 2-5. I hold a huge freakin’ grudge against Andie Macdowell for doing her damndest to ruin that fantastic movie…

    …but I kinda liked the hats…

I almost want to edit out the hats bit, now that I know it’s a British wedding thing (see comment above)… but it’s just the style + amount of them that is crazy to me. They are SO big!

Really 1-5 could easily be Andie Macdowell!
