About the 2008 Tony Awards…

meh.

Does anyone remember when I used to care? Because it’s been so long that I only -barely- remember.  I seem to remember being riveted when Alan Cumming accepted a well-earned award for Cabaret. And I probably only remember how good that award year was, because I taped it on my VCR.  Yes… I said VCR… that’s how long ago it’s been since the Tony awards were, all in all, very exciting.

The only thing I really have to say about this year’s awards is that The Little Mermaid in no way, shape or form qualifies to be nominated for Best Original Score (Music and/or Lyrics) Written for the Theatre.

(sad.)

i actually thought this year’s telecast was better than most…at least the pace. having seen most of the nominated shows, i had some points of reference when so-and-so would win.

the rent performance was way disappointing. but, aiko!

very excited about in the heights, passing strange, paulo szot, august: osage county, and south pacific.

in short, i am a complete theatre nerd.
